Mysterious Note

Nathaniel was intrigued by the note, as I knew he would be. He also guessed immediately that I was behind the whole thing, as I feared he might. When he called me on it I smiled and demurred, implicitly challenging him to treat it as real and see where it leads him. He is doing that. It shows he trusts me enough to immerse himself in the mystery I’ve presented him without demanding to know why I’m doing it or how it might turn out in the end.

Already he has passed my test, in the most important sense. I can’t wait to debrief with him when he is older. How much older? Ah, that’s part of the mystery; I’m immersed in one of my own.
