The problem with blogging is that, despite its ease and increasing sophistication, it is still like the days of DOS vs. Mac vs. UNIX vs. (etc.) before system emulation… it still seems ridiculously difficult to move content from one blogging platform to another.
It will not always be so. The day is coming when moving years of blog archives from one platform to another will be a seamless three-click process. I don’t intend to wait quite that long, but neither am I willing to laboriously copy and paste hundreds of posts and their comments and photos and links from my first bloghost to this one, my favorite bloghost.
Until I do somehow manage to port over all my content to Voxtropolis, I will practice “parallel posting”, putting the same post in both places, including links and images. It’s only a little more work for me, and I hope it will save me time and hassle when port-over day finally arrives.
(…unless it makes the process worse… hmmm)
